Shampoo and conditioner are two different types of hair care products. While shampoo is used to clean our hair, conditioner is used to improve the condition of our hair. Shampoo is a cleansing agent that washes away dirt and residue from our hair. Conditioner is a moisturizing agent that nourishes our hair and makes it feel smooth and soft.

About Shampoo
What is shampoo?
Shampoo is a substance, detergent or cleaning agent used to clean hair. It usually consists of a cleansing base, emulsifier, humectants and fragrance that create foam when it is mixed with water. It can be found in liquid, bar or powder form and it may also be combined with conditioner. Shampoo often contains surfactants like anionic, cationic or nonionic ones. The active ingredients in shampoo are detergents, which help us to remove oils, dirt, and other impurities from our hair and scalp.
What is the purpose of shampoo?
Shampoo is a liquid or paste used to clean our hair and scalp. It may also be used as a skin cleanser, hair, body wash etc.
The main purpose of shampoo is to cleanse the hair and scalp without causing damage to the natural oils that are found in the hair. There are two types of shampoos: Cleansing shampoo and conditioning shampoo.
Basically, shampoo is not a detergent but it is a soap. Soap is defined as a cleansing agent that consists of an alkaline liquid, usually water, with some kind of detergent or surfactant dissolved in it. As for shampoo, it’s made from a mixture of chemicals and plant extracts that are supposed to clean the hair and scalp by removing excess oils and dead skin cells.
What are the types of shampoo?
There are many types of shampoo but the most common types are:
Shampoo for dandruff: This type of shampoo is used to treat a condition known as dandruff, which is caused by an overgrowth of flaky skin cells on the scalp. It can also be used to prevent and control hair loss in people with alopecia.
Sulfate-free shampoo: This type of shampoo is gentle on hair and scalp and helps to reduce dandruff and other scalp problems. It also doesn’t contain harsh chemicals like sulfates, which often leave our hair feeling dry and brittle.
Shampoo for oily hair: If we have oily hair, then this type of shampoo will help keep it from looking greasy by acting as a natural oil cleanser without stripping our hair’s natural oils or proteins.
Shampoo for dry hair: This type of shampoo is usually formulated with moisturizers and other ingredients that add shine and hydration to dry or damaged hair.
Fortifying shampoo: Fortifying shampoo is often colored and its high level of dye provides color to our hair.
Is it better to use natural or chemical-based shampoo?
Actually, in my point of view, it is hard to directly answer. Now you ask me, why? There are advantages and disadvantages of both the types of shampoo.
The natural type is more affordable, but it can be difficult to find in stores/market because it’s not as popular as chemical-based shampoos.
On the other hand, chemical-based shampoos are effective at providing scalp protection from dandruff, flaking, and itchiness which can lead to a healthier scalp. The downside is that some chemicals may cause an allergic reaction or irritate our skin if we have sensitive skin. So I think you have got it.
About Conditioner
What is conditioner?
Conditioner is a cosmetic product that usually comes in the form of a cream or liquid. It helps improve the condition of our hair and scalp, leaving it soft, shiny, and smooth. Conditioner is a shampoo that has been formulated to add moisture and shine to the hair. The ingredients in conditioner include silicone, mineral oil, waxes, essential oils, Aloe Vera gel, honey or sugar, fragrance and colors. There are many benefits of using conditioner like helps prevent dryness by restoring moisture balance to the hair. It also helps keep our hair healthy and reduce breakage by reducing friction caused by brushing against each other.
Using conditioner everyday is not necessary. If we have oily hair, then using conditioner may help. But if our hair is dry and brittle, then it’s better to skip the conditioner as it can make our hair feel weighed down. So yes, we can use conditioner but if we don’t need it just skip a day or two!
What are the types of conditioner?
A conditioner is an important product for people with curly, Frizz, Brassy, Ash, Blonde, Wavy, Ethnic hair. Because it helps maintain moisture and also provides a protective barrier from environmental pollutants. It can be applied to wet or dry hair and is usually used as a final step in the shower. It will add shine, smoothness, and silkiness to our hair while protecting it from damage. There are many types of conditioners available depending on your needs:
Cream-based Conditioners: These are thick, creamy formulas that contain oils and waxes that coat the strands of hair and provide shine without making them feel heavy or greasy. They work well for people who have dry or coarse hairs due to their moisturizing properties.
Liquid-based Conditioners: These formulas are thin, liquid formulations that typically contain protein ingredients like keratin or collagen. Which help strengthen damaged strands of hair by providing protection against environmental pollutants such as UV rays or chlorine in pools or hot tubs. The proteins also help detangle the hair.
Cream-Oil Conditioners: These formulations are thicker than cream formulas and they contain oils as well as moisturizers that provide moisture to our hair while helping fight with fizziness, reducing itchiness and keeping curls defined.
Conclusion
Shampoo and conditioner are two different topic and products, but they have a lot in common. Both are used to clean our hair and scalp, but they differ in their primary ingredients. Conditioner is usually made with a shampoo base; it also contains humectants that help prevent dryness and promote healthy hair growth. It also contains emulsifiers to help form lather and increase penetration of the product into the hair. On the other hand, shampoo is mainly made up of surfactants that lift dirt from our hair and scalp, along with conditioning agents that moisturize it by providing nutrients.
